Our version is slightly smaller than most original Chinese altar tables and is made from solid reclaimed elm wood

with a fixed panel at either side

The frame is bevelled and has brass fittings at the back so that it can be hung in either landscape or portrait

Camphor was a popular wood as it acts as a natural insect repellent but elm was also favoured

Silk Embroidery - 'Dragon' w90 Our version is slightly smallerThese beautiful pieces are reproductions of embroidered silk designs that were used to decorate the robes of Chinese officials and their wives. Each is hand stitched in silk and sold framed as shown. This particular silk shows a celestial dragon guardian of the heavens and symbol of power and imperial rule. Please note that each piece is stitched by hand and so designs may vary slightly from the example shown.
